Thank you to the committee and exhibitors for the warm welcome although sadly the weather decided to misbehave for us and by the last couple of bitch classes we were in heavy rain. I thank the exhibitors for being sporting and remaining outside although I think a few of the Deerhounds would have something to say about that!. Thank you to my steward Peter Grant who was a great support and to the committee for their kind hospitality. I was impressed by the firm condition of the hounds and all temperaments were excellent.

1st, Barclays Cotherstone Finlaggan 2yr old of nice type and size in dark Grey coat and harsh texture. Strong jaw, dark eye black pigment and neat ears. Deep chest and well filled forechest, ribbed well back. Good width to thighs and plenty of length from hip to hock. Well knuckled feet. Strong tail although would prefer to have seen him carry his tail a little lower, a little untidy in front today but used his strong quarters well.
2nd Stewart & Thomson Killoeter Uist, 21mnths, Lighter grey coat of good texture, nice proportions and length of head, attractive eye although would prefer a neater ear. Not quite the fill in forechest as first placed and still to drop in brisket but good underline and nice arch to loin. Enough spring to pastern and tight feet. Good width to thighs. A little naughty on the move for his handler today.

Good layback of shoulder balanced with good length of upper arm. Plenty of width across hips and good length to hock. Still needs to develop in body a little more. On the move he is very sound but he didn’t quite give the drive and extension today that his construction says he should.
2nd Macbean Kaleginy Plaid 2yrs Shapely outline in harsh shaggy coat. Balanced head with dark eye, good depth to jaw set on strong neck. Well laid shoulder and deep brisket with good fallaway to strong tail . Carried his head a little low on the move which spoilt his overall bearing.
